Taking full advantage of the 1,600 acre property and its varied terrain, the 27-hole course satisfies golfers at all levels. It offers variety, great natural beauty and thoughtful design with three distinct nine-hole courses, the Lakes, Foothills and Mountain. Our four-season climate and mild winters allow year-round play on the championship Jack Nicklaus Signature course.

Golf at Governors Club is designed for casual, social and competitive golfers. There are golf programs for men, women, couples and juniors, as well as a host of special golf events for all levels of play.

Junior Golf at Governors Club

The game of a lifetime starts at a young age at Governors Club.

Governors Club offers year-round junior golf programming for members 3 to 18 years old.  Our Professional Golf Staff and Director of Golf Instruction offers clinics, lessons, golf academies and summer camps to prepare their skill set. Programs include the nationally-recognized #1 family coaching program, Operation 36, and PGA Junior League.” .  Our PGA Junior League Teams compete in the Triangle Region against several other clubs, and have been recognized as the First Place winners in the PGA Chapel Hill league in recent years.

  • Women's Golf
    • One of the largest and most active Women's Golf Associations (WGA) in the Carolinas, with more than 200 female golfers of all levels. Play Tuesday mornings in 18-hole, 9-hole or 3-hole formats. A very popular Get-In-The-Swing beginning golf program introduces women to the basics of golf. The outreach of our WGA extends well beyond the golf course, and includes charitable fundraising, mentor programs and social events.

  • Men's Golf
    • The Men’s Golf Association (MGA) has a variety of events going on with the attitude that there is something for everyone. Players of all levels take part in our MGA, with events ranging from Club Championships, Inter-Club matches, Casual Golf and Weekly Games. The main pulse of the MGA revolves around two major hubs: Weekly Play Days & The Dog Fight and the year-long Men’s Money List and the Governors Cup.

  • Couples Golf
    • There are regular Couples events that incorporate Play & Dinner in a range of formats. The event continually rotates between 9 and 18 holes. Play in the annual Partner Golf Championship (formerly called Husband and Wife) for a great test of partnership on the course.

  • Social Golf
    • At Governors Club, we realize that not all Members like a competitive environment or want to play in that environment all the time. We regularly host social golf events where sharing a good story or laugh is more important than who won the tournament. Our extremely successful FIVE after 6 Program brings together singles and couples. In this event, players tee off at 6:05pm and play 5 holes with cocktails on the range and dinner following play (keep score only if you want to).

  • Family Golf
    • Golf is great for the whole family. Several times a year, our Golf Professional Staff offers events that incorporate everyone including a Parent/Child and Grandparent/Grandchild event. Memories of a lifetime can that span generations can easily be created on the golf course.
