Award-Winning Golf

Jack Nicklaus Signature Championship Golf Course

Taking full advantage of the 1,600 acre property and its varied terrain, the 27-hole course satisfies golfers at all levels. It offers variety, great natural beauty and thoughtful design with three distinct nine-hole courses, the Lakes, Foothills and Mountain. Our four-season climate and mild winters allow year-round play on the championship Jack Nicklaus Signature course.

Golf at Governors Club is designed for casual, social and competitive golfers.

3 Unique Courses

Take full advantage of the terrain

The year-round golf course is blanketed with Hybrid Bermudagrass from tee to green while peppered with Zoysia grass and Fescue along some roughs. You will use every club in your golf bag for this varied and fun golf experience.

Lakes: Hole 1-9

The flattest of the three nines is the easiest to enjoy walking the course. Fairways, nestled between lines of mature trees, offer a park-like setting. As the course name implies, strategically placed ponds and lakes add to the natural beauty of the course, and serve up challenges.

Foothills: Holes 10-18

The longest of the three courses. Multiple tee choices and wide fairways can help you tame this course.

Mountain: Holes 19-27

The shortest of the three courses, does not require tremendous length of shots, but the slopes, inclines and drop-offs bring out the golf artist in you. The majestic views will make you forget the score for a few moments and enjoy the surroundings.

Practice Facilities

Year-round practice facilities include: Double-sided Practice Tee & Range, 5,000+ sq. ft. of Practice Putting Greens, Pitching & Short Game Practice Green, and Greenside & Fairway Practice Bunker

Golf Activities

Connect with other members.

With a year-round golf course comes year-round opportunities to connect with friends. At Governors Club, there are golf programs for men, women, couples and juniors, as well as a host of special golf events for all levels of play.

Women’s Golf

One of the largest and most active Women’s Golf Associations (WGA) in the Carolinas, with more than 200 female golfers of all levels. Play Tuesday mornings in 18-hole, 9-hole or 3-hole formats. A very popular Get-In-The-Swing beginning golf program introduces women to the basics of golf. The outreach of our WGA extends well beyond the golf course, and includes charitable fundraising, mentor programs and social events.

Men’s Golf

The Men’s Golf Association (MGA) has a variety of events going on for players of all levels. MGA events range from Club Championships, and Inter-Club matches, to Casual Golf and Weekly Games. The main pulse of the MGA revolves around two major hubs: Weekly Play Days & The Dog Fight and the year-long Men’s Money List and the Governors Cup.

Couples Golf

There are regular Couples events that incorporate Play & Dinner in a range of formats, continually rotating between 9 and 18 holes. Play in the annual Partner Golf Championship for a great test of partnership on the course.

Social Golf

We regularly host social golf events where sharing a good story or laugh is more important than who won the tournament. Our FIVE after 6 Program brings together singles and couples to play 5 holes with cocktails on the range and dinner following play.

Junior Golf

Memories of a lifetime that span generations can easily be created on the golf course. That’s why several times a year, we hold golf events that incorporate those who matter most, including a Parent/Child and Grandparent/Grandchild event.

Major Golf Events

We hold several major golf events for members throughout the year like our Club Championships, Four-Person Team Championship, Match Play Championships, and more. Governors Club has served as host to several charity and public golf events such as Golf for the Pink.
