All property owners are members of the Governors Club POA which is responsible for:

  • 24-hour gate service
  • road and sidewalk maintenance
  • storm water management
  • common area landscaping
  • events organized for all residents (see Activities)
  • many other services similar to those provided by a town

Property owners pay annual dues to share the costs of the above.
Membership and use of the country club facilities is optional and not part of POA dues.

Governors Club is in Chatham County. Our water, fire and police services are provided by the County. The Chatham County property tax rate of .7249% is much lower than the rates charged in nearby communities.

Residents volunteer their time freely, actively participating in the governance of the community. Ten elected directors (nine POA and one Club Cottage) serve staggered, three-year terms on the POA Board of Directors and many residents serve on committees, including:

Architectural Review Board
Bark Park
Communications
Community Activities
Community Appearance
Deer Management
Finance
Hearing Panel
Infrastructure
Information Technology
Long Range Planning
Marketing/Sales & Realtor Relations
Safety & Privacy

The Board and committees are assisted by professional management provided by Community Association Services (CAS). CAS administers the architectural review process and manages the services, programs and operations of the Association. The two gates are staffed by employees of Allied Universal.
